It all begins with an idea or maybe a sleepless night?

I am a single mom , it has been 65 days since I lost my dream job and almost two weeks since I slept more than a few hours. So here it goes the birth of the SewStressed Blog.

When life gets rough I turn to Sewing.

I learned to sew as a young girl. By the time I was 7, I was making clothes for my toy poodle. By the time I was 13, I made dresses to wear to my cousins’ weddings, and from there I would eventually sew items for the International Space Station.

I am passionate about the domestic arts.

Once referred to as Home Economics and today known as Family and Consumer Sciences, it is the birth place of efficiency and the application of science to the domestic canvas.

From my Mom, Dad, Aunts, and Uncles and friends that were closer than family I learned how to cook, can, sew, and thrive. The saying “work smarter not harder”, describes how I was taught to do each task.

I now realize the unique upbringing I experienced shaped me into someone who can and will do what it takes. These are the life skills I hope to pass on to my daughter and now realize not everyone was gifted with.
